From Recovery to Leadership: Become a Peer Support Specialist

Director’s Message

Personal Greeting from Cathie and the NEM Team

As the crisp air of autumn settles in and the brilliant colors brighten our days, we find ourselves reflecting on the incredible growth we’ve witnessed this year—not only within New Each Morning and in the lives of the women we serve, but also through the tremendous collaboration across our community.  Thank you!

Each woman’s story and every new day in recovery remind us that hope and healing truly happen in community. Thank you for believing in this mission and for supporting us in so many meaningful ways.

We’re closing out 2025 strong with our final Peer Support Specialist Training coming up in November. Details are below!

Program Highlights

“Personal Best Appearance” Program

Our Personal Best Appearance program is helping women rebuild confidence and step forward with pride—ready for new opportunities, employment, and the next chapter of their recovery journey.

This program also continues to be a powerful expression of community support—restoring confidence, dignity, and hope for women preparing to step back into the workforce. With the encouragement of our Peer Support team, each woman is reminded that she is seen, valued, and capable of thriving.

COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT: Alexis Lauer & Slate Hair & Design

Thank you, Alexis Lauer and Slate Hair & Design, for partnering with NEM to provide professional haircuts through our Personal Best Appearance program. You’re restoring dignity and helping women see the beauty in their new beginnings.

Community Collaboration Goes Into Jefferson County

New Each Morning was honored to collaborate with the Jefferson County Faith-Based Network as they prepare to open the women and children program house in Madras, Oregon.

Our team had the privilege of sponsoring one of the rooms—a welcoming space where a mother and her two young children will soon begin a new chapter together.

A special thank-you to Toni La Foe, NEM Board Chair, for her leadership and dedication throughout this project, and to Nancy Price and Karen DeFord for your specialized help and heartfelt contributions. Your teamwork brought warmth, beauty, and hope into this new home.
